People in Canton and throughout northern Ohio may never see pizzas this cheap again. The Papa's John's pizza chain sold customers a large, one-topping pizza for 23 cents each, the number a reference to Cleveland Cavaliers star Lebron James.
A Canton man, waiting in line at the Papa John's location on Cleveland Avenue NW at noon, said it was a good deal. As he described it , "Papa John's loves us." Some customers around the Canton area reported standing in line for as much as three hours, due to heavy demand.
86 stores in Canton, Akron, Cleveland, Columbus, Youngstown and Toledo took part in the deal. Each were prepared to seel about 900 pizzas, but some, like locations in Louisville and Alliance, ran out of supplies and had to close early.
The company apologized to Cavaliers fans after a Washington D.C. franchisee made t-shirts calling Lebron James a "crybaby". |
