More Pain at the Pump

Gasoline prices are nearing the $4 mark. Across the Canton area, many service stations are now selling regular grade gas for $3.95 per gallon. Robert Jenkins of Akron, filling up at a Marathon station on Everhard Road in Belden Village, calls the almost-daily price spikes "ridiculous". Eileen of Canton, a widow who recently lost her husband and his income, says she's forced to cut down on her driving to make ends meet. Neither are sure what's causing the rising prices, but Jenkins speculates that the war in Iraq is a factor.
AAA says the Ohio average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.74, but that's based on a survey conducted Monday. |
