Massillon Annexation Approved

Despite some opposition from residents, Stark County Commissioners have approved the annexation of a portion of Tuscarawas Township to Massillon. Commissioner Tom Harmon says in a 2-1 vote, the board okayed the annexation of 62 acres, including the recently-approved Poets Glenn housing development.
Commissioner Todd Bosley was the sole objector, citing concern that the proposal wasn't in the best interest of the community. Harmon says he and fellow commissioner Jane Vignos believed the annexation to be legally sound.
Among issues raised by Bosley and others was who had the authority to sign on to the deal for one of the affected property owners. Harmon says that since a majority of those property owners supported the annexation, it was a moot point. |
